Tony Cargill (born 7 March 1983 in Dundee) is a former multiple time World Champion in Highland Dancing. He was also a Scottish professional football player. He grew up in Arbroath, Scotland. He currently lives in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada where he used to teach highland dancing at the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts.[1] He now owns his own studio which is in Summerside and is called the Tony Cargill School of Dance.
Cargill began dancing at the age of 5. He lists the Sword Dance as his favorite to perform, due the challenge of avoiding the blades of the sword while dancing.[2] He had the chance to dance in front of 60,000 people at the Amsterdam Arena.[3] He has also performed in Beijing, China.[4] In July 2009, Cargill performed at an all-male Highland Dance show in Australia called "Down Under the Kilt: Reel Men Do Dance". Tony's Scottish Tartan is the Dress Green Buchanan.[5]
